Winner of Stamp Contest Announced

Richard Goodkind's winning design. The winner of the 2010 Minnesota Trout and Salmon Design contest has been announced.

Richard Goodkind of St. Louis Park was crowned the winner with the best design. Goodkind’s piece will be featured on stamps.

According to The Associated Press, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) says Goodkind’s entry is of an autumn scene featuring a brook trout feeding on mayflies in northeastern Minnesota.

Goodkind does not win a prize from the DNR for winning; however, he will retain reprint rights of his work.

The stamps are required for people who fish in trout streams and/or lakes.

The department sells around 95,000 of the $10 stamps each year with limited edition prints made available to the public as well.
