The Morrison County Sheriff's Office said 24-year-old Michael Thunborg of Little Falls was convicted Aug. 26 of felony malicious punishment of a child under 4 in Morrison County District Court. Thunborg aslo admitted shaking the child and spanking her so hard he left hand prints on her backside. This was after daycare providers found his 1-1/2 year-old daughter with two black eyes, extensive bruising, cuts on her head, along with a number of other injuries. The girl was brought to the St. Cloud Hospital by a child protection worker and Royalton Police Chief Gunderson. Upon evaluation, doctors concluded the injuries were non-accidental and found further injuries on her abdomen, back, bruising on both legs, and on her left wrist and hand. Thunborg pleaded guilty to the charge of malicious punishment, describing in great detail exactly what he had done to the little girl after he allegedly lost his temper. Thunborg will serve 60 days in the Morrison County Jail, a stay of imposition, and five years of supervised probation. Written for the web by Megan Brown
