According to the American Red Cross "O" negative blood donations are urgently needed now more than ever. The American Red Cross says 38% of the US population is eligible to give blood. On Friday from 10:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alexandria the bloodmobiles were in town and the numbers were up as appointments were booked all day. "There is one main reason why I give blood," Heather Ronnei, a resident in Alexandria tells us. "I choose to give blood because there are a lot of less fortunate people in the world. This is one thing I can do to give back." If you weren't able to stop by St. Mary's in Alexandria on Friday visit the American Red Cross' website http://www.redcross.org/ to find the nearest blood drive. Written for the web by Emily Deem.
