Old Packers Turf May Finally Have a Home

ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (AP) - The Green Bay Packers may have found a home for turf from the old Nitschke practice field.

The artificial turf was carefully dug up when the practice field was moved last fall. It's been sitting behind the Ashwaubenon Village Hall since then.

The Packers say the turf will be donated to the Journey House in Milwaukee. The youth center has a football program.

A couple schools in the Green Bay area considered taking the donation, but turned it down after learning it could cost about $500,000 to install it. N.E.W. Lutheran High School and Ashwaubenon High School decided the cost was prohibitive.

Packers general counsel Jason Wied says the team is still working on the logistics for moving the turf to Milwaukee.
