(AP) - Yellow Medicine County commissioners are weighing options on how to deal with troublesome coyotes. Board chairman Gary Johnson says the coyotes in some areas have destroyed the small wildlife, including rabbits and squirrels. Johnson says he gets weekly calls from constituents concerned about coyote activity. Other commissioners say they've had similar problems, including disappearing farm cats. Board members talked about offering bounties for hunting coyotes, something the state ended in the 1960s. Commissioner Jane Remiger asked about organized hunts in areas with coyote problems. Commissioners took no action. --- Information from: Independent, http://www.marshallindependent.com (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
