Ejects Park Rapids ResidentHubbard Co., MN - On October 14, 2009, at approximately 6:38 p.m., the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office received a report of a three vehicle accident on County Road 4, approximately 1/2 mile south of County Road 40 in Lake Emma Township. Upon arrival authorities learned a 2001 Dodge Intrepid driven by Drew Huntziger, age 57, of Park Rapids was traveling northbound on County Road 4 and crossed over the centerline into oncoming traffic. Huntziger then sideswiped a southbound 1999 Ford pickup truck, which was pulling a 2000 BFCI tandem trailer, driven by Brandon Vredenburg, 28, of Menahga. According to authorities Huntziger's vehicle then continued in the southbound lane and proceeded to collide with a 1997 Dodge Neon driven by Zachary Hemenway,19, of Park Rapids. Hemenway's vehicle spun around on the highway and came to a rest on the southbound shoulder. Authorities say Huntziger was ejected from the vehicle as it went into the southbound ditch. Huntziger was unconscious, suffering from severe head trauma, and was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital in Park Rapids, then later transported to Fargo. Huntziger's current condition is unknown and both Hemenway and Vredenburg reported no injuries. According to authorities weather conditions were poor at the time of the incident and the cause of the accident is unknown.
