It's all part of the "Treasure Hunter's Roadshow" - an up-and-coming cable series scheduled to air on network television this season. Antique collector Paul Jensen was among those lucky treasure hunters today. When he found out about the show, the Underwood man says he packed several large crates full of household things and immediately hit the road. "We have a lot of things in the attic that we've accumulated over the years that we have no idea how much they're worth," Jensen says. Picking up a timeworn, metallic toy bridge, he smiles and gives an example. "It's called the busy bridge," Jensen begins. "As a child, my wife says she played with it a whole lot." Then he continues, "We're very interested in the value... because it's mostly sat on the shelf since then." When told that he'd have to wait for a prospective buyer to contact him in order to actually sell the item, Jensen does however, seem a bit frustrated. That's because some folks are walking away from "Treasure Hunter's Roadshow" with cash in hand. The "Treasure Road Show" is produced by Chicago-based Pixel Brothers Media, which pays out cash for gold, silver, rare antiques, and pretty much anything else they can turn a profit on. Explaining his show's mission, lead appraiser Mike Wright explains "People can create their own stimulus package, bottom line. They can bring their items in, and we can look them up in our database and we have about 6,000 different buyers." The "Treasure Road Show" will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Saturday at the AmericInn in Fergus Falls. For more information, contact the hotel's staff at 218-739-3900. |
