"What happens is as the supply of vaccine comes into the state it is gradually let out to the health departments and that will have to handle as it comes and we don't really know" said Family Health Nursing Advisor of Otter County Marion Kershner. So who's first to get the limited spray? It has been well known for a while that young children are more susceptible due to weaker immune systems but another group is being told to come forward and get vaccinated. "We're focusing on children and those that care for young children like children below six months of age or younger because those children seem to be more at risk for serious consequences of H1N1" said Kershner. On October 26, the department of health in both Fergus Falls and New York Mills had a nasal spray clinic to vaccinate both young children and the adults who care for them. they plan on using all of the vaccine they received that day or shortly after. From then on it will become a bit of a waiting game as each Minnesota department won't really know when they will get there next shipment based on production speed, population and other factors.
