Alexandria City Council Takes Pay Cut

ALEXANDRIA, MINN- The Alexandria City Council voted to amend an ordinance that would have increased their salary Monday.

The original ordinance called for the mayor and council members to receive a three percent salary increase begging in 2010.

The increase was approved in 2008, but due to budget concerns the council voted unanimously to freeze their salaries.

The current salary for council members is $5,885 and $7,635 for the mayor.
