Trisha was not there when the shooting happened, but her brother Frank was babysitting her 7-year-old daughter and his 17-month-old daughter at the house when Schwartz started shooting. "My daughter called screaming 'Mom help me, help me. He's got a gun,'" Trisha recalled. Schwartz dumped the puppies in a drainage ditch late last week, and when he saw they had been found and brought back home, he snapped. "He kicked the kennel and the door came off...it's still laying out in the yard...and he broke the door and started shooting the puppies," Frank went on to explain. Frank, his daughter and his niece escaped without any physical harm, but only one puppy survived. The pup was grazed by a bullet, and Trisha says she hasn't been eating, but the vet says she'll be okay. She is up and running around but doesn't stray too far from Trisha's side. Trisha's daughter is still upset. "She's having trouble sleeping. She says every time she closes her eyes she sees him shooting the puppy's," Trisha explained. She's moving out of the house soon but that won't erase the memory of this horrific act. "For him to go from a positive happy go lucky attitude to a negative 'I don't care if there's kids around...if I shoot one of the kids.' And I know he had to have been thinking that," Trisha said. She's glad Schwartz is in jail, her daughter is safe and she has her miracle puppy. The puppy doesn't have a name yet, but if you have an idea for a name e-mail us at news@ksax.com or post your comments below.
