Before the game I got a chance to talk with both teams head coaches to discuss strategy going into game one of the section A post season. "We've been working a lot on some pressure situations in practice our passing, our offensive domination being dominant on offense. We know that they are very aggressive, very scrappy and can dig us up" said Osakis head coach Kirsten Wessel. "This week we've been working on covering our hitters more and our defensive coverage. We've also been looking at specialty hitting. We have played Osakis two times this year and both times were battles" said Royalton head coach Melissa Hammer. And the third match was no different as the Prairie Conference number one seed Osakis took on number four seed Royalton. Game one was back and forth down to the final play. Osakis took the early lead and coasted on it until late when Royalton tied the game up in the twenties to go into overtime. Osakis finally gained the advantage and blocked a spike to win game one 26-24. After Osakis won game two it looked like they would sweep as they took the early lead in game three. But Royalton scratched and clawed there way back to take game three 25-20. Game four Osakis found there groove again and pushed past the Royals winning 25-15 and took the match ending Royalton's season. Osakis hits the court on October 30 to take on Kimball Area in the quarterfinals. Written for the web by: Tony Seeman |
