Second in the Little Eight Conference and an impressive 21-6 record. While on the other hand West Central Area has been hit and miss throughout the year ending seventh in the Heart O Lakes Conference and 7-15 overall. But as they say anything can happen in playoffs so I caught up with both head coaches to get there input on the "do or die" mentality of the post season. "When you have so many seniors on your team, they get pretty emotional when they think this might be their last one. Last night we kind of were jittery, tonight there really calm and cool. There ready to take it to Parkers" said West Central Area head coach Suzie Lohse. "Unfortunately our history has not been the greatest. I have a great group of girls this year they have their heads on straight there focused and there determined. We want it, we want it this year and its going to be ours and were going to do everything we can to take it" said Parkers Prairie head coach Tanya Powers. And coach Powers words would prove to be prophetic it seemed because as soon as the first serve was hit the Panthers went on the offensive and didn't let up. Great offensive striking by Sari Noga led the charge with multiple spikes to give the Panthers the offensive edge. That is not to say the Knights didn't bring any offense of their own. Jennifer Froemming put a few kills down throughout the contest along with some impressive defense by senior Caitlin Peterson. When it comes down to it the Knights were just overmatched when compared to the Panthers. Parkers Prairie wins it in three. The Panthers do battle next on Tuesday Nov.3 for the semifinals. |
