All Volunteer Firefighters Run Drills to Save Lives
Alexandria, Minn-The all volunteer Alexandria fire department runs emergency drills every Monday night to ensure their readiness for emergencies.
One of the drills entails car extractions.
In this drill the firefighters cut victims out of cars with chainsaws and other cutting tools.
Then they transport the victims to ambulances.
Firefighters say the drills prepare them to do their jobs and save lives.
"We learn a lot from them. The more you practice something the more prepared you are and the more prepared and the more lives me can save," said firefighter Tom Partington.
The department consists of 30 members and they are on call 24-hours a day.
