Minnetonka Man Accidentally Kills Himself Deer Hunting

Authorities say a 77-year-old Minnetonka man died after accidentally shooting himself in the chest while deer hunting Saturday.

Itasca County Sheriff Pat Medure says Daniel Cermak was hunting approximately eleven miles north of Deer River in Bowstring Township when the accident happened Saturday morning.

He says Cermak was hunting with a 30-30 lever action rifle when it discharged and hit him in the chest. Cermak died at the scene.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
