DPS Helps Get Minnesotans Ready for Winter

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Like it or not, a Minnesota winter is just around the corner. And the Department of Public Safety wants us all to be prepared.

DPS and its partners are sponsoring Winter Hazard Awareness Week this week, to get Minnesotans thinking about how to stay safe this winter.

Citizens can visit www.winterweather.state.mn.us, to get information about outdoor activity, indoor air, winter travel, fire prevention and other topics.

There's also an online photo contest.

Wade Setter is deputy director of the DPS division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. He says the Web site offers a new look at winter safety - as well as statistics on the dangers of winter weather.
