The fire that forced out six families in Burnsville rekindled Wednesday. 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS report Steve Shaw called 911 when the fire reignited just before 6 a.m. Within minutes a police officer arrived and put out the fire with an extinguisher. Tueday, when the fire originally started, an alert neighbor spotted flames on the roof of a townhome complex in Burnsville and took action to get everyone out safety. The four-alarm fire started around 6:20 p.m. on County Road 11. The flames quickly spread. They burst through the roof and lit up the night sky. Fire crews fought the fire from above with ladder trucks and managed to contain the worst damage to the units at the end of the row. There were people inside the townhomes when the fire started, but Karrin Swanson saw the flames and took action. She said she, "Stopped the car and went knocking on doors until everyone came running out." There was no word from officials on the cause. But neighbors said crews were working on the roof earlier Tuesday. |
