An indictment filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court accuses 27-year-old Kelly James Maxwell and 22-year-old Natalie Renee Delores Smith in the Oct. 1 death of Curtis Heinonen. His unclothed body was found under some logs in the yard of a Redby residence. Prosecutors say shoes, pants and boxer shorts were found two blocks away in Smith's yard. The indictment is the result of an investigation by Red Lake tribal police and the FBI. Smith is represented by the Office of the Federal Defender, which was closed Wednesday. An attorney for Maxwell didn't immediately return a phone message left by The Associated Press. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
