Updated at: 11/16/2009 1:18 PM | KSAX.com Surveillance Video Helps Willmar Police Nab RobbersWILLMAR, MINN. - Two men who came into a Willmar store, who brandished black handguns and demanded money, are now in custody thanks to one key piece of evidence. On Friday the 13th, around 3:00 in the afternoon, Willmar Police received a report of an armed robbery from the owner of Quick Return Tax Service, in downtown Willmar. The suspects demanded money, which the owner gave to them, and both men fled on foot, according to authorities. The owner gave a description of both men to police, but one key factor in this case, the owner's surveillance video. Willmar Police were able to watch surveillance video from the store to get a better description of both suspects. Around 9:00 p.m. a patrol officer spotted one of the suspects involved in the robbery and apprehended him. The second suspect was apprehended around 1:30 a.m., Saturday, according to authorities. A search warrant was executed on the suspects home, where authorities found the two handguns used in the robbery and almost all of the cash that had been taken from the business. Angel Guzman Rodriguez, 20, was taken into custody in the Kandiyohi County Jail. Also in custody at Prairie Lakes Youth Program is a 17-year-old male. Both suspects are facing felony charges of 2nd Degree Assault, 1st Degree Aggravated Robbery and Receiving stolen property. Other charges may be filed after further investigation.
