Barn Destroyed in Fire; Electric Heater May be to Blame

GREENWALD, MINN. - A barn on a local farm in Greenwald, Minn. is a total loss after the structure caught on fire, early Wednesday morning.

Stearns County Authorities responded to a report of a barn fire at a farm located at 399 2nd Ave. N. in Greenwald.

The owner of the farm, 57-year-old Robert Nietfeld, was able to get most of his cattle out of the barn.

Authorities say the barn was a total loss and the cause of the fire may be due to an electric heater inside of the barn.

The Melrose, Freeport and Sauk Centre Fire Departments also responded to the fire.
