"I heard the clinking, looked and discovered the back window was no longer there," Nash said. Nash's truck was one of 31 cars that were vandalized sometime late Saturday night in Montevideo, Minn. Police Chief Adam Christopher says it was all random. "Most of them were parked in the street, so I would imagine they were just driving by shooting as they go by," Christopher said. Some of the windows showed signs of a pellet gun while others were completely shattered like Nash's. There are no reports of anything being stolen, but Nash is surprised something like this happened in what he thinks is a safe neighborhood. "I thought it was. The school's right down there, and nobody messes around the school," Nash said. Three other cars besides Nash's were vandalized on his block alone. Police don't have any suspects yet, but Christopher thinks kids or teenagers are behind the damage. "I imagine what it is is kids thinking they're doing kid type pranks, but in reality it's really, really serious. I mean it's many many thousands of dollars worth of damage," Christopher said. Nash guesses it'll cost around $500 to replace his window, which means the total vandalism damage could cost upwards of around $15,000. "Kids being jerks," Christopher said. The people who did this will face criminal charges if they're caught.
