The performance commemorates Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which is this Monday. "The play displays Dr. King's ideas and message. I use mostly his words from writings and speeches," said Bowles. Bolwes says people need to be reminded of those writings and speeches."Dr. King is like ancient history to some, but if we don't remember our history we are doomed to repeat it," he said. Which is why Markis hart says, "I have a lot of Dr. King's books...and I memorize some of his speeches." The play was brought to Alexandria by the Diversity Resource Action Alliance."This is a great opportunity to learn about his message of acceptance," said Mary Ann Maameri of the Diversity Resource Action Alliance. In return for Dr. King "giving us that message" Markis Hart says he wants to give Dr. King a message."Happy Birthday," he said.
