"State of the Union" Address: Minnesotans Sound Off about Economy in Small Town America

ALEXANDRIA, Minn - With President Barack Obama set to deliver his first State of the Union Address since taking office in Jan., some in the community of Alexandria delivered their own "State of the Union."

"We're in trouble! I'm worried...my kids won't have anything in the future," said Alexandria resident Brianna Thilke.

But Thilke was not the only person worried about the future of our children.

"If you take a snap shot of our county it's hard to believe that they will have a better future than we had," said Alexandria resident Doug Garin.

Some even believe our children's future is not the priority for those in power.

"Small town America is struggling. We send so much money to places like Haiti and I know they need it, but people here are struggling," said Alexandria resident Troy Pauly.

And if that struggle continues Thilke says, "we're going to have a depression...if this administration keeps spending the way they are."

However not everyone blames the current administration

"To say this administration is to blame isn't fair. We need to give them a chance...it's the American way," said Pauly.
