Local Family Continues to Help Haitians by Organizing Fundraiser

KENSINGTON, Minn - The Buettner family's commitment to helping Haitian orphans began with their daughter volunteering at a Haitian orphanage, then adopting a orphan of their own and now they have hosted a fundraiser.

The fundraiser took place Wednesday at Andes Tower Hills in Kensington.

The money raised will go towards helping newly orphans at "God's Little Angels" orphanage in Haiti where Rhyan volunteers.

"The money will go to help those kids...there will be more sick and needy kids coming there soon, so they need it," said Buettner.

Despite being just one person Rhyan believes she can help bring some happiness to Haiti.

"You have to believe that you can make a difference. I do...it's become my mission right now," said Buettner.

And people in the community are noticing.

It's important to keep helping them and I'm sure Rhyan and here family will be instrumental in keeping Haiti on people's minds," said Marie Coffman, who attended the fundraiser.

If you could not make it to the fundraiser you can still donate by clicking on the following link:
