Public Servants and Entire Community Stand Still as Officer is Laid to Rest

ALEXANDRIA, Minn - The haunting sounds of bagpipes filled Good Shepherd Lutheran Church as Alexandria Police officer Patrick Callaghan was laid to rest.

Hundreds of his friends and family filled the church to bid farewell.

"Everybody is going to miss him. All the people in here have been touched by Pat and loved him, " Pat's friend Chad Essler said.

One of the people Callaghan touched was Alexandria Chief of Police Richard Wyffels.

"The truth is I looked up to Pat. He made me want to be a better leader for this community," Wyffels said.

As a testament to Callaghan, his family arranged a memorial display with photographs commemorating his life and achievements.

"We'll always remember him...Pat was an amazing person," Essler said.
