The Falls Battle in Fergus

FERGUS FALLS, Minn.- At first glance in the contest at Fergus Falls High School the cards seem to be stacked towards the Little Falls Flyers. They have a strong 12-5 record and bring in monster Dan Kornbaum. Fergus Falls on the other hand have a record of 3-12 and have been struggling all year to iron out the kinks. However the Otters earned their last win at home upsetting the heavy favored Willmar Cardinals.

Early in the game Little Falls grabbed the reigns with offensive prowess both inside and out. From the outside senior Alex Scott was great beyod the arch knocking down threes to jump the Flyers out to an early lead. From the inside none other than six foot eight Dan Kornbaum essentially just needed to get the ball within 10 feet of the basket to be a threat dropping 28 points throughout the night.

Early in the first half it looked like the Flyers would run away for their thirteenth win, but a well placed timeout by Fergus Falls head coach Dan Rund gave the Otters new life. The Otters would climb back with shooting from senior Darin Stanislaski who played strong from the three point line with 16 total on the evening.

However by the end the Otters would just be overwhelmed by the Flyers. Little Falls wins 73-56.

Both teams hit the court again on Feb. 9. Fergus Falls plays Rocori and Little Falls will take on St. Cloud Apollo.
