Akeley Bank Robber Charged
53-year-old Edward Lowen of Park Rapids has been charged in the Hubbard County Court. On Friday Lowen was charged with 1st and 2nd Degree Aggravated Robbery and 2nd Degree Dangerous Weapon. Lowen entered the bank while three employees were working inside Friday, Feb. 26. "He was quick, he knew what he was doing," Hubbard County Sheriff Frank Homer said. Lowen displayed a handgun to one of the tellers and demanded that money be placed in a bag, according to authorities. Once the teller complied with his demand, Lowen left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. Hubbard County Deputies, along with agents from the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, followed up on multiple leads which resulted in the arrest of Lowen. The investigation continues by the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
