Missing Wadena Man Found by Police

paulsonWADENA, MINN. - A Wadena man who suffers from dementia and diabetes disappeared Monday morning and now local law enforcement officials were able to locate that man. 

76-year-old David Paulson was at his home in Wadena on Monday morning when he got into his car and drove away.

"Mr. Paulson suffers from dementia and he is also a diabetic and does not have his medication," Tom Crawford Wadena Police Sergeant/Investigator said.

"We believe Mr. Paulson drove away in his car but the vehicle did not have much gas in it,"  Crawford said.

Authorities were able to locate Paulson in rural Wadena County Wednesday around 2:00 p.m.

Paulson had driven his car onto a minimum maintenance road in rural Wadena County when his car got stuck in the snow, authorities said.  Paulson attempted to get his car out but could not so he walked away from his car and his tracks in the snow helped officers locate him.

Authorities found Paulson lying on the ground he was wet and hypothermic, authorities don't know how long Paulson had been outside his vehicle only that he had a core body temperature of 88.

Paulson was taken by ambulance to the Tri County Hospital in Wadena his condition is still unknown.

Officers from Wadena Police Department and County Attorney's Office assisted in the search of the immediate area where the vehicle Paulson was driving was located by a Sheriff Deputy.
