Sports Commission to take bids to replace 'Dome turf

The Minnesota Vikings want a $600,000 mini-makeover at the Metrodome.

The Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission agreed to start taking bids to replace the artificial turf.

The team says there's a difference in the surface across the field, especially over the patched areas where first and second base were.

Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission Executive Director Bill Lester said, ""The football team is always concerned about the safety of their players and also the aesthetic for tv."

If the new field plan is approved, work would begin in mid-July.
