Dolphin calf due any day at Minn. Zoo

 Follow Allie's progress

A pregnant Atlantic bottlenose dolphin at the Minnesota Zoo is quicky approaching her due date.

Trainers say Allie the dolphin should give birth to her first calf any day now.

They are waiting and watching, 24-hours a day, each taking six-hour shifts. They're watching for any sign of the onset of labor

Allie gained about 100 pounds during the pregnancy. She'll likely be in labor for about two hours.

The dolphin calf will be about two-and-a-half to three feet long and weigh up to 30 pounds.
