Calumet man sentenced for deadly crash
 

A Calumet man who pleaded guilty to a deadly crash was sentenced to three and a half years in prison.

Randy Michael Olson, 49, caused the crash that killed Elaine Locken of Warba and injured Locken's daughter and another woman.

According to the criminal complaint, on March 26, 2005, Olson crossed the center line of Highway 169 and hit Locken's vehicle.

Blood drawn at Hibbing hospital showed Olson had taken drugs and ingested alcohol.

His blood alcohol content was .07. The tests showed the presence of therapeutic levels of four depressants and above-therapeutic levels of a sedative.

Olson had been convicted of gross misdemeanor criminal vehicular operation and aggravated DWI in 1997 and DWI twice in 1986.

Olson is currently being held at the Minnesota Security Hospital in St. Peter.
