Recent Rainfall

Recent rainfall hasn't been all good for Central Minnesota crops.

According to the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, some Central Minnesota areas have new concerns now that lack of moisture is no longer an issue, including ponding in fields and damaged crops due to heavy rainfall.

Much of the areas alfalfa and hay has toppled after pounding rains earlier this week, too much rain that is to absorb immediately.

Rothsay, for example got nearly 4-inches of rainfall and the Barnesville area got more than 5 and a half inches.

The Department of AG expresses the danger to crops when there is three or four days of water on the fields, followed by extreme temps.
