The Great Alexandria Bike Race Starts Tomorrow

The Great Alexandria Bike Race will take place for the first time this weekend. Presented by the Alexandria Bike and Ski Club, this two day competition combines citizen racers with USAC racers.

The road course begins Saturday with registration 8-9:30 a.m. at Big Ole Park and the race kicking off at 10 a.m. This 36 mile long course starts and finishes at Alexandria Extrusion traveling through Garfield.

Scoring will be determined by chip timing provided by Endurance Promotions.

A dinner and awards ceremony will take place at the Holiday Inn. The top male and female from several age groups with receive trophies. There will also be prizes and live music. 

An eight mile individual time trial and afternoon circuit race will take place on Sunday. Registration for the individual time trial begins at 8 a.m. at the Forada Supper Club with the first bike leaving at 9:30 a.m.

The overall top female and male will receive trophies.

An entry fee is required of $30 for the road course, $15 for participants 18 years old and younger. A $20 registration fee is required for the individual time trial.

All proceeds will benefit the Douglas County trails.
