Twins Community Fund Announces 20 Scholarship Winners
The Minnesota Twins Community Fund announced Tuesday that the Diamonds and Dreams Scholarship Program will grant $2,000 scholarships to 20 Midwest youth in pursuit of post-secondary education.
A ceremony to recognize the scholarship recipients will take place on the Metrodome field prior to the start of the July 3 Minnesota Twins versus the Detroit Tigers game.
Created by the Twins Community Fund in 2005, the Diamonds and Dreams Scholarship Program has awarded scholarships to 100 students in its five-year history. In 2009, the Twins Community Fund increased the scholarship amount from $1,000 to $2,000 and received more than 160 applications from high school seniors across the Upper Midwest.
Scholarship recipients were selected on a variety of factors including academic achievement, community service and participation in an organized youth baseball or softball program.
