Crosslake Man Dies in Snowmobile Accident
According to the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Department, on Sunday around 12:00 a.m. officers responded to the area of 12937 Co. Rd. 16 on reports of a snowmobile crash. The accident occurred on frozen water in front of the Ye Olde Wharf Bar and Restaurant in the city of Crosslake. Authorities learned 46-year-old Stephen Zilka of Crosslake was driving his snowmobile alone when he struck a tree that was hanging over the ice. Zilka sustained head injuries in the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene according to authorities. Crosslake Police, Breezy Point Police, Crosslake Fire Department and North Ambulance also assisted the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office in the accident. Written for the web by: Emily Deem.
